Radiological characteristics of screen-detected lung cancers: predictive for histological subtype?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods 197 solid lung cancers (192 participants) detected in all four screening rounds of the Dutch-Belgian randomized lung cancer screening trial (NELSON) were included. CTmorphological features included nodule shape, margin, location, volume, and volume-doubling time (VDT). Based on histopathology, cancers were divided into four groups: adenocarcinoma (N=114), squamous cell carcinoma (N=37), large cell carcinoma (N=28) and neuro-endocrine cancers (N=18). Data were analyzed using ANOVA, Chi-square and Fischer’s exact test.

Clinicopathological Profile of Lung Cancer Patients in a Teaching Hospital in South India
Introduction: Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer related deaths in the world. The incidence of lung cancer is increasing in India and there is a need to understand the natural history of this disease. Aim of the study: To study the clinico- pathological- radiological profile of patients diagnosed with lung cancer from January 2013 to May 2015 at a tertiary care teaching hospital...
متن کاملRelationship between EGFR mutations and clinicopathological features of lung adenocarcinomas diagnosed via small biopsies.
AIM We performed this study to evaluate the frequency of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations and their association with the histological subtype of lung adenocarcinoma diagnosed via small biopsy specimens. PATIENTS AND METHODS Three hundred and fifty-nine lung adenocarcinoma specimens were tested for EGFR mutation by a direct sequencing method. In 135 patients, histological subt...

In the Edinburgh Randomised Breast Screening Project (EBSP) to December 1988 there were 500 cancers in the study population invited to screening and 340 cancers identified in the control population. The size and negative lymph node status characteristics of invasive cancers from the two populations were significantly different (P<0.05). The cancers detected by screening were predominantly 'earl...
متن کاملDiagnosis of thromboembolic disease: Combined ventilation perfusion lung scan and compression ultrasonography
The clinical management of pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis of the legs are similar and requires prolonged anticoagulation therapy. The standard diagnostic approach in patients suspected of pulmonary embolism is ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) lung scan and compression ultrasonography to detect deep venous thrombosis. This retrospective study analyzed the role of V/Q lung scan an...
متن کاملDifferences in Patient Outcomes of Prevalence, Interval, and Screen-Detected Lung Cancers in the CT Arm of the National Lung Screening Trial
Lung cancer screening identifies cancers with heterogeneous behaviors. Some lung cancers will be identified among patients who had prior negative CT screens and upon follow-up scans develop a de novo nodule that was determined to be cancerous. Other lung cancers will be identified among patients who had one or more prior stable positive scans that were not determined to be lung cancer (indeterm...
